No one can resist the smell of home-made buns! π₯―ππ₯― I used one kilogram of flour for two baking sheets π. For a full house of hungry people, it was just right π. Of course, the best ones are the fresh ones on the day of baking but they can also be stashed in the freezer for later π€«
Ingredients:
- 1 kg flour
- 550 ml of milk
- 1 yeast cube / 14 g dry yeast
- 120 ml melted butter
- 3 tsp salt
- 3 tsp sugar
- 1egg
- for sprinkling: caraway, poppy seeds, sesame, according to your taste
Instructions:
- Version with dried yeast:
Pour the flour into a large bowl, add lukewarm milk, melted butter, dried yeast, salt, sugar and knead thoroughly for about 5 minutes. - Version with yeast cube:
First, prepare the yeast – pour part of the measured lukewarm milk into a small bowl. Add the crushed yeast along with one teaspoon of each: sugar, salt, and flour. Mix thoroughly and allow the yeast to rise.
In a bowl, mix the rest of the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the rest of the lukewarm milk, the melted butter, and finally the risen yeast. Knead thoroughly. It will be a little sticky at first, but give it time, care, and love. After about 5 minutes of kneading, you will have a beautifully smooth dough. - Fill a larger bowl with warm water. Put the bowl of kneaded dough in it and cover with a cloth and wrap in a blanket. Give it at least 30 minutes till it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 220Β°C. Move the leavened dough onto the baking mat and you can start knitting buns. There are a few tricks for that, just take a look at a few instructions on youtube. I recommend always rubbing dough lightly with melted butter. It glides nicely and then the dough is tangled better.
- Put the buns onto the baking sheet lined with a baking paper and let them rest for another 15 minutes. Then smear them with a beaten up egg and sprinkle with seeds.
- Bake until golden for about 15-25 minutes .. it depends on your oven.
Enjoy ππ
